Journey to Home Sweet Home - Part 2 of 2

I was advised by the KL Sentral counter lady to buy the ticket at LCCT KLIA, since she feared that I will missed the flight. Thus, I took the liberty to catch a cab and asked the driver to bring me to LCCT KLIA and arrive there by 7pm. The driver agreed.

The driver planned to use the new KL-Putrajaya express way. However, in order to get there, we need to go through the busyness during the peak hour of people normally get of from from work.

It is kinda of annoying for me when I heard the driver complained the the cab's gas was nearly empty. The most irritating fact that I thought he already knew that the gas is low and regret the fact the he was selfishly willing to bring me to LCCT KLIA and risking me missing my flight.

The driver stopped at PETRONAS NGV station at KLCC (of which also the center of busyness in the capital city. The distraction caused by NGV refueling cost me me about half an hour to hour original cab travel duration. Huhh...

At last, I finally arrived at LCCT KLIA. However, it was already 7:25pm. It took me about more than 10 minutes to have my turn at AirAsia sales counter at LCCT KLIA, only to be told that I would not be able to buy the ticket for 8:05pm flight, although there are numerous seat available. Well, this is the first time I travel by flight. Thus, this experience is a great teacher for me.

Since I am not able to make it for the night flight, I opt to the next scheduled flight: 7:05am morning flight on the next day. It caused me MYR197.99 net for the ticket(including tax and service charge).

Then, I took my dinner at McDonald there. I was not sure how I will spend the night while waiting for the morning flight to Kuala Terengganu. While queuing for my turn to order the email, I spoke with an AirAsia cabin crew whom happen to queue in my line. He told me that I could rent a room at Concord hotel for MYR70. However, I need to ride a shuttle bus from LCCT to the hotel.

It is too risky for me to sleep at the hotel. Since the flight is very early in the morning and it is hassle for me to ride shuttle bus with no previous experience, I decided to kill time at the airport.

I spend my time mostly at two places in the LCCT: LCCT lobby and the LCCT cafeteria. Both places open for 24 hours a day. Why two places?

I spent time at the lobby because there are wireless Internet connection there. It was not fast connection, but sufficient enough for checking my gmail and friendster (but I was not able to find a power socket to charge my laptop). I spent time at the lobby to charge my laptop while having tea/coffee but there is not wireless network there...

Journey to Home Sweet Home - Part 1 of 2

It is about almost two weeks since I started my leave, while relocating jobs from the old to the new one. Supposedly, I should take some of the days and spend them in my home town in Kuala Terengganu. However, it is not until last two days that I decided to seal the date of departure to KT.

So, I bought two bus tickets: one for going to KT, and another for going back to Klang Valley. The first ticket was scheduled yesterday morning. And guess where I am now?

I'm still not in Kuala Terengganu. Why? I missed my bus.

It was very long since I had my last long journey. The last one is on last year's October. Since then, I never go back to my home town. I feel like not being good son already. I should be going back more often.

Thus, I decided that I should be more persistent this time, towards realising my decision to go back home. I decided to catch a plane back.

Near 4pm (yesterday), I called a cab service, and the cab arrived early then the promised time. I was impressed, but, please... I am rushing in packing my stuffs. Anyhow, it was not like I really need packing because I could go back empty handedly.

At first I was about to ask the driver to drive me to nearest train commuter station. However, I changed my mind so that I could go to KL Sentral station (Klang Valley's transportation hub). The driver asked me what is my destination really. I wanted to go to KLIA (airport). However, I was yet to buy a flight ticket for the night, thus, in order to save potential lost (of expensive cab fare to KLIA), I opt to go to KL Sentral instead.

I thought, buying a flight ticket was plain easy. In reality, I had to wait nearly an hour to wait for my turn in queue. I thought I would be relief when I asked for the night flight ticket to the sexy lady in the counter. She told me two news: 1> There are eleven seats available for the night's flight to KT from KLIA. However, she was afraid to sell me a ticket fearing that I would not be able to make it on time to KLIA LCCT. She advised me to race to KLIA LCCT and buy tickets there. I follow her advice (of which I now regret).

A New Saga Beginning...

For the past few months, my hands were tied to the project I was assigned to. Tentatively, the project is to be delivered by mid of March. So, I need to concentrate to the job at hand (plus, I was not comfortable to be perceived of having some leisure time for blogging when my boss read this blog of mine ;-)).

I don't believe that this blog has so many subscribers, however, I am grateful now, I'm back and available again (at least, I believe I am).

I tendered my two month notice resignation letter from my current work at the end of the last January. I accepted a tempting offer from a software & consultation house which is situated in Puchong. I can say that it is a MNC, originated from Australia.

Yesterday, I had finally able to finalize all the paperwork needed for resignation. It took me more than a week to finalize all the paper work. Imagine, there are nearly ten people that I needed to ask for signature/autographs (for clearance purposes). I guess, it is much more easier to get hired, than to resign honorably (proper notice period).

I was asked, why I chose to change job. Honestly, it is not really about changing job. I am still in the same career line. Actually, I just 'hire' a new boss. ;-) he he.

There are three major tempting reasons (or excuses):

  • I can do what I love to do - I believe there more interesting task for me, and a lot more skills that I would be excited to learn. I believe that I can do best by doing what I love. Doing things without proper framework, without proper tool, without proper support (and maybe appreciation) - so tired. "La Passion..."
  • I can bring more food to the family's kitchen table (aka more money). Obviously, one of the major reason to change an employer is definitely the money factor. Yeah, money is not important, but, everything is money... according to some philosophers. ;-)
  • There is no such thing as job security in today's economy. If I see that that being with an employer will lead me to clear and better career path, should I kept myself in the dark? I can honestly say that, this reason make me so eager to accept the offer.

I started my paid leave on 15th of March 2008. It has been a while since I really spend a full day in an office. It is time for me to search for myself and to do what I have to do. Err... maybe buying new clothes or a car is not really a bad idea, is it?

So, the new saga begin... 1st April 2008 - the date to report for duty in the new company.
